Job Description

Suir Shipping Ltd  is recruiting for an  Operations Supervisor to oversee and drive the day-to-day performance of busy stevedoring and warehousing operations within a leading Irish maritime and logistics environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on operations professional to take responsibility for delivering safe, efficient and high-quality cargo handling and storage services.

The successful candidate will play a key leadership role within the operations team, ensuring that all activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with customer expectations and operational targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take full responsibility for the daily planning, coordination and execution of stevedoring and warehousing operations.
  • Lead and manage operational teams on shift, ensuring appropriate allocation of resources and workloads.
  • Work closely with line managers and supervisors to monitor performance, support staff development and ensure effective team organisation.
  • Drive operational efficiency through continuous improvement of processes and systems.
  • Monitor, analyse and report on operational KPIs, identifying opportunities to improve productivity and service levels.
  • Ensure high standards of customer service are consistently maintained across all operations.
  • Promote and enforce a strong Health & Safety culture, ensuring full compliance with statutory and company requirements.
  • Oversee cargo handling activities including loading, discharging, storage and inventory control.
  • Coordinate with customers, transport providers, port authorities and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth operational flow.
  • Support workforce planning, scheduling and shift coordination to meet operational demand.
  • Assist in training, mentoring and performance management of operational staff.
  • Ensure accurate completion of operational documentation, reporting and digital system inputs.
  • Contribute to incident reporting, investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Undertake additional duties as required by senior management.

Candidate Requirements.

  • Proven experience in an operations supervisory role not essential as training provided , but advantagous .
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage operational teams effectively.
  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach.
  • High level of communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational reporting systems.
  • Solid understanding of Health & Safety compliance in an industrial or logistics setting.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under pressure.
