Hatchery Manager

Founded in 1962, Silver Hill Duck is a fully integrated premium Duck Producer. All aspects of our duck production are owned and controlled by Silver Hill Duck, from breeding, egg production, hatching and selection, to processing, cooking and packaging. We are seeking a Hatchery Manager who will work report to our Breeder Hatchery Manager at our plant in Co.Monaghan.

Key Accountabilities:

• Organising daily work schedules and managing a team
• Manage daily deliveries, egg inventory, incubation, transfer and equipment
• Manage department budgets
• Manage and drive performance to achieve high-quality day-old ducklings
• Manage maintenance issues and preventative maintenance with the maintenance team as required.
• Enforce Silver Hill Hatchery code of practice
• Performance management throughout the process from egg receiving to dispatch of day olds to our growing farms
• Liaise with the supply farms and growing managers on egg and day-old quality
• Ensure all bio security measures are always adhered to
• Performance of other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Previous hatchery experience essential
• Ideally a degree in poultry, animal science or another related field
• Previous management experience
• Ability to be flexible and respond to a changing environment
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work on own initiative
• Ability to prioritise and work at pace to complete tasks effectively
• Full clean driving license essential
• Willing to locate to within 20minutes for the hatchery
