Position Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Agri Counter Sales Person to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, offering product advice, processing sales and supporting the day-to-day operation of the store.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong interest in agriculture, rural life and customer service who enjoys working in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales
- Serve customers professionally and efficiently at the sales counter.
- Provide advice on agricultural products, animal feed and general farm supplies.
- Assist customers with product selection and recommendations.
- Process sales transactions accurately through the EPOS system.
- Build strong relationships with farming, equine, gardening and rural customers.
- Promote current offers, seasonal products and new product lines.
- Support customers with account queries and order collections.
- Be comfortable calling customers to collect account payments.
Store Operations
- Assist with stock control, replenishment and merchandising.
- Ensure shelves and displays are fully stocked and presented to a high standard.
- Receive and check deliveries.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
- Ensure pricing and promotional displays are accurate.
Business Development
- Support the growth of the business through excellent customer service.
- Participate in promotional activities and product demonstrations.
- Assist with social media content and product awareness initiatives where required.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and customers.
Health & Safety
- Follow all company health and safety procedures.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with agricultural, feed and chemical regulations.
- Report hazards and incidents promptly.
- Maintain a safe environment for customers and colleagues.
Essential Requirements
Experience
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
- Experience working in retail, agriculture, hardware, garden centre or a similar environment.
- Good product knowledge of agricultural or rural products would be advantageous.
- Experience handling cash and processing transactions.
Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic IT skills.
- Ability to work in a busy retail environment.
Desirable Experience
- Agricultural, horticultural or rural retail background.
- Knowledge of animal feed and farm supplies.
- Experience operating EPOS systems.
- Knowledge of equine, pet or garden products.
