Irish Organic Association The Irish Organic Association (IOA) is Ireland’s leading organic certification body dedicated to certifying organic produce and products throughout Ireland. Inspectors’ and certification officers are expected to possess a combination of relevant educational background, preferably with inspection experience, and essential to have a keen interest in organic agriculture. The trainee will be trained in all relevant aspects of the role in order to assist in administering the Irish Organic Farmers and Growers Association Inspection and Certification Program.

The Irish Organic Association is recruiting for a number of full-time positions

• Trainee Farm Inspector

• Trainee Certification Officer

Overview of Trainee Farm Inspector:

This role is a full-time Inspector position. Irish Organic Association inspectors carry out on-site audits/inspections of farm holdings. Inspections are carried out on site at various locations throughout Ireland and therefore travel will be required. We are looking for inspectors based in the Midlands/South East.

Overview of Trainee Certification Officer:

This is a full-time certification officer position. Assisting the Certification Manager with Irish Organic Associations Inspection and Certification Program within regulatory guidelines. The certification officer duties will mainly be carried out in the office in Athlone and/or from home, or a mix of both, depending on location and includes communications with members, maintenance of database files, review, and follow-up correspondence in relation to reports.


A minimum of a level 8 (Honours Degree) in Agricultural science. Previous experience and knowledge of farming systems is essential and auditing experience desirable. Training: Comprehensive training will be provided on all matters pertaining to organic production and certification regulatory duties. Training will take place in various locations to cover the full range of tasks as outlined in job description.

A full clean driving licence is essential.
