Position: Project Officer
The Organisation
Animal Health Ireland (AHI) is a not-for-profit, public-private partnership, tasked with controlling livestock diseases not subject to international regulation, with the objective of improving the profitability and sustainability of Irish farmers and the agri-food sector. The advice provided by AHI is developed by a number of Technical Working Groups and the delivery of its major programmes is overseen by cross-industry Implementation Groups.
Description
A vacancy has arisen for the role of Project Officer, which requires an enthusiastic candidate to assist on an EU project on the sustainable control of parasites in grazing livestock. The role varies between managing participants, producing communication materials, administration and reporting. Research and/or parasite control experience would be an advantage. The candidate will report to the Parasite Control Programme Manager.
Job objectives
• Assist with the management of project participants including communication, coordination and arranging sampling, if required. Assist project participants with following project protocols. Collate, record and maintain results.
• Disseminate data and collaborate with other members of the project from the EU. Collaborate on other projects with similar objectives.
• Record short videos, write summary case-studies, newsletters and information materials to disseminate the project outcomes in a concise, creative, engaging and targeted way.
• Assist in developing and implementing knowledge-sharing activities such as community meetings, webinars, and other events, and using social media and other platforms to share news and good practice.
• Assist with collating and editing technical communication materials relating to parasite control.
• Assist in organising farm events, visits, and travel itineraries.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
• A qualification in agricultural, biological or veterinary sciences or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience in these fields.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• Good inter-personal skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team, including consulting, collaborating and building relationships with key partners.
• The ability to problem solve and demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
• Able to self-motivate and work independently.
Desirable
• Knowledge of the biology and epidemiology of parasites of ruminants or experience in livestock parasite management and testing.
• Knowledge of Irish cattle and sheep farming systems.
• Data analysis and/or report writing skills.
• Experience with science writing for the public.

Contract Duration
Full-time position, 1 year fixed-term contract.
Driver’s License
The job will involve some travel. The candidate will need to satisfy legal requirements to drive on Irish public roads and have their own transport.
Salary: €40,000
