Troy Meats is a family-run beef processing facility based in the centre of Ireland, operating since 1978. Owned by the Troy family and in operation 47 years the facility is renowned for its Signature beef range, featuring hand-selected heifers and steer cattle. Our locally sourced beef products are exported throughout Europe and parts of the world. With BRC grade AA+, Bord Bia accreditation, DAFM approval, and an Origin Green member, we are committed to quality and sustainability. we are looking to add to our ever-growing team a livestock lairage operator and a Carcass grading operator.
Duties:
- Safeguard the wellbeing of livestock
- Identify grade & isolate grade C, sick or injured animals or cattle not likely to pass postmortem inspection.
- Keep the abattoir serviced with livestock, and enough feed for same. Move livestock to secure holding pens causing minimal stress
- Ensure cards are entered correctly & in a timely manner that does not cause delays in production
- Keep the lairage facilities clean and tidy
- Ensure Management of farmers in lairage to ensure they respect site rules.
- Adhere to Company hygiene practices & animal welfare procedures
- Comply with health & safety rules, to prevent / minimise the risk of accidents
- Participate in training, in accordance with your personal training plan
- Carry out any additional duties that may be reasonably requested by the management
- Alerting abattoir Manager &/or Maintenance Manager of any maintenance issues within the lairage & ensuring they are rectified in a timely manner
- Grading carcass - Training provided, E,U,R,O,P carcass Classification system
Shift Pattern: 6am - 5pm Monday - Friday
Requirements
- Previous experience in a similar role is beneficial but full training will be given for inexperienced people keen to learn the trade
- Familiarity with AIMS and cattle intake systems and procedures for entering cards; common card entry issues and resolutions etc.
- Good attention to detail
- Able to use own initiative
- Good communication skills
- Self-motivated
- Able to work as part of a team
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills
- Experience with livestock, desirable but not a requirement
- Certificate of competence certified, desirable but not a requirement
