Role Overview:

You'll work on all aspects of the breeding cycle- from planting and evaluation to harvesting and analysis. You'll gain practical and technical experience in both lab and field settings using the latest technologies and equipment, including state of the art harvesting machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, plan and execute field, lab and glasshouse experiments
• Monitor, manage and evaluate plant performance and data
• Operate breeding equipment and support data analysis
• Support junior staff and students as part of a collaborative team
• Ensure consistent, high-quality technical standards across breeding activities

What We're Looking for:

• A strong technical or scientific backround in agriculture, plant science, biology or a related field
• Hands-on experience in fieldwork, data recording and lab procedures
• A data-driven, analytical mindset with strong problem solving skills
• Attention to detail and a high level of organisation
• Comfortable with machinery, precision tools, and computer systems

Basic Function:

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and managing the forage breeding programme in the breeding of improved varieties of forage grass, legumes and herbs. This will include significant hands-on work in the field, glasshouse and laboratory plus the assignment, supervision and management of technical, farm and casual staff to efficiently complete all tasks to the required standard in the correct order and in a timely manner.

Salary: Technician Grade 1 with a Salary Scale of €36,946 to €47,985

Contract duration: Temporary contract posts (x2), the indicative duration of which is 37 months &
24 months, subject to contract.
