Animal Health Ireland is a national organisation, established over ten years ago, with the mission to contribute to an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable farming and agri-food sector through improved animal health and welfare.
It is an industry-led, not-for-profit partnership between the key stakeholders of Dairy& Beef Processors, Farmer’s Organisations and Livestock Markets, Government & State Agencies, Professional & Advisory Support Services, and AI companies.
It provides benefits to livestock producers and processors by providing the knowledge, education and coordination required to establish effective control programmes for non-regulated diseases of livestock.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The new appointee to the role of CEO will be responsible for leading a high-performance team and enhancing the broad stakeholder engagement remit of AHI. Central to the person’s success in the role will be their leadership gravitas, combined with their deep understanding of farming issues and an ability to interact effectively with stakeholder organisations.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
A degree in Veterinary Medicine, Agricultural Science or related disciplines is required.As the role requires significant interaction with farmers and farming bodies, it is important that candidates have a deep understanding of farming issues.
THE PERSON
• A credible, and highly respected leader withan outstanding record in senior management, with direct involvement in animal health and/or the agri-business sector
• Committed to ‘customer’ service; having a deep understanding of farming and able to appreciate farmer and industry needs
• Strong people and team-building skills, capable of motivating at all levels of an organisation
• Evidence of an ability to bring passion to a role, to create a vision and to deliver on that vision
LOCATION
The role will be based in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim. The CEO will be expected to travel within Ireland and other locations to meet with stakeholders in the course of their duties.
COMPENSATION
A competitive compensation package will be offered to the preferred candidate which will include a generous base salary, contribution to a pension and additional ancillary bene!ts.
